Explore, Dream, Adventure - SID december Sketch

I was busy with the new collection from Celebr8 - Set Sail, when the December SID sketch landed on my desk.

With the leftover paper from my Bulk Pack kit and the SID sketch I created this layout!
The photos are of my eldest son Corne, fishing in an international against South Africa.
He did so well during the tournament!
Some close-ups:
The bottom gauze is medical swabs sprayed with Ranger Distress Spray!

The other two layouts in my collection pack look like this:
My youngest son catching a shark!
My daughter also got roped into the action, and her brothers insisted she must catch a shark too!

Familie - SID November Sketch

The November SIDsketch was a little out of my comfort zone.
I preder to use paper to make up my backgrounds, but this sketch called for a little mixed media.

I originally started with a kit from Anguree Jase van Rensburg,
but eventually changed it into a double.
My brother-in-law's father passed away just over a month ago and his mom passed a year ago.
He doesn't have many photos of his parents, so I thought I would make him something special.
The title FAMILIE VIR ALTYD EN EWIG (Family always and forever) I just painted with smooch.
The gears were sptized with distress sprays and then embossed lightly.
I added in some afrikaans words - herinneringe (memories) and spesiale tye (special times).
The cotton swabs were also sprayed with distress spray stains, and then streatched behind the photos.
His mother loved to crochet, so added in this crocheted doily for her.
His dad was a hands on type of man, so I added the gears to represent him.

Beautiful - SID October Sketch

I loved the October Stick It Down sketch and it inspired me to create a layout of my beautiful twin sister, Karin.  On her 40th birthday I  treated her to a spa day...with hair, makeup, pedicure, manicure and then a photoshoot.

The challenge this month came in a different form....we were only allowed to use the colors white and grey.  Well, unfortunately I hate both these colors and felt my layout need at least a bit of color....so this is what I created:

I added in a splash of pink by using Nuvo Glitter Texture Paste to color my title.
I used the Celebr8 Glamour Stencil and added some of the texture paste on the top left and bottom right.
I embellished my layout with flowers from Little Birdie and some rhinestones.
Paper used is:
Background - Lady Pattern Paper
Grey, floral and quotes - Penelope Dee

Captured Memories - SID September Sketch

Once again the Stick It Down sketch had me challenged.....I struggled with the idea of all these triangles, and what photos would suit it.
After a lot of contemplating and discussion with my scrapbooking friends, I thought to myself I am taking the sketch to literal and I should rather interpret it.....so I went with flowers instead of triangles.
These photos are of my niece at the schools winter dance...although my layout is more spring!

The chipboard title from Celebr8 was colored with All-Purpose Inks.
The center of the paper I used was white, and to stark for my liking.
So I stamped some ink on my craft sheet, spritzed it with water and then used a piece of plastic to stamp a watercolor effect onto the background....this helped soften the white a bit.
(you can see the effect just below the flower cluster)

I also added in some tags for my niece to journal on.
The bottom right corners flower cluster.
The bottom left corner flower cluster.
All the photos were double matted on pink and green cardstock.
Paper used is the Penelope Dee Rosalee Collection.

Beautiful Inside & Out - SID August Sketch

My daughter recently competed in her school beauty pageant.
Part of the pageant is a free photoshoot, so that they can make a slideshow for the evening show.
This year they did the photoshoot in a popular coffee shop in Swakopmund.
I used some of the photos for the August sketch.
 Some close ups:
I used Celebr8 flowers, which I colored with
All-Purose Ink Thistle and Versamagic Pumpkin Spice Chalk.
The title I colored with All-Purose Ink Thistle and Versamagic Pumpkin Spice Chalk.
I then added glitter and dimensional glaze.

Paper used is from the Celebr8 Daydream Collection.

Captured Memories

Recently I realised that I scrapbook alot of my photos two or three times, so I decided to go through all my albums and make a list of what is missing, and what still needs to be scrapbooked.

In my nieces album, I was missing a single page.  As I am not a huge fan of singles, I decided to look on facebook what sketches I could find.....and I came across this Sketchabilities sketch for July.
Needing some inspiration to get me going, I browsed through there design team projects, and noticed a second challenge on one of their design team members walls...Kraft +Plus Challenges.
I decided to combine these two challenges to create a page for my niece.
These photos were taken in 2015 during a photoshoot.  While they were standing on the train tracks, a train just happened to come past.  The driver was so friendly and offered to stop so that they could take some photos with the train.

The Kraft+Plus Challenge required me to add some weaving.  I copied the blue/yellow "weave" on the train, and added it in under the title.  I weaved yellow cardstock with blue ribbon.

The background Kraft cardstock I added stencilling, stamping and ink splats, just to give it a more rustic feel.

Thanks for stopping by.

10th Birthday - SID July Sketch

This sketch was a challenge for me as I felt it works better as two single page layouts and not a double, but I made it work for me.

I used photos from my nieces 10th birthday party.
She had a photoshoot party with a few of her friends.
Some close ups:

The paper I chose to work with is from the Celebr8 Simple Life collection.

The edges of the paper already had paint splats on, however I used a stencil and some colored texture paste to give it a little bit of dimension.

The chipboard elements are also from Celebr8.

Twin Kitties - SID June Sketch

I am a bit late in posting my layout for the June Sketch, but here it is.

My daughter recently adopted two kittens, Pepsi and Cola.  They are both pitch black.  One is male and the other female.  According to the SPCA they are twins.
I used paper from Kaisercraft for this layout.

Some close ups:
I made a collar border across the page, with a little bell attached to it too!!
